Cerro Porteño, the first club in the world to implement the Poverty Stoplight

Fundación Paraguaya and the “Fundación Club Cerro Porteño” join efforts to end poverty in sports, which is why they promote Fútbol Sin Pobreza (Soccer without poverty), an initiative that seeks to work with the families of the children and young people of the club’s breeding ground, in order to improve their quality of life.

 

In this way, the Cerro Porteño Club of Asunción, through the “Fundación Club Cerro Porteño,” becomes the first club in the world to implement the Poverty Stoplight methodology. In addition, the hope is for other sports institutions can know and use the Poverty Stoplight as an alternative to work with their lower divisions and the families of their children.

 

Early this year, both organizations signed an agreement, whose objective is to improve the quality of life of young people and their families. Since then, the joint work has begun. Days ago, in Ypané, the first survey was carried out to more than 68 boys belonging to the training categories of the “Barrio Obrero club” (Cerro Porteño). From now on, the young athletes, who aspire to become soccer stars, become the fundamental piece to carry their families forward.
