Debate with inmates of the Buen Pastor prison

Martín Burt, CEO of Fundación Paraguaya, participated in an emotional debate with inmates from the Buen Pastor prison who took part in the School Enterprise Challenge. It was as part of the “Latente” program, of the Ministry of Justice and Labor, and the meeting was called “Conversaciones Latentes – Aprender a emprender desde el encierro” (Latent Conversations – Learning to undertake from the confinement), at the Mariscal Shopping Convention Center.

“We have worked for over 35 years to change people’s lives, over the course of such time we reached more than 70,000 women throughout Paraguay,” said Burt. María Lourdes Alvarenga, an inmate at the Buen Pastor, commented on her experience and how the School Enterprise Challenge gave them yet another reason to improve themselves, despite the confinement, and how the program helped them acquire skills and the process to become into an entrepreneur.

Wilfrida Cristaldo, director of the “Casa del Buen Pastor” Educational Center, thanked the Fundación Paraguaya and its Director for the support provided to the inmates, so that they can aspire to a better quality of life through entrepreneurship.

The School Enterprise Challenge reached approximately 60 inmates, who managed to come up with an enterprise and carry it out.
