“Mujeres Unidas” Committee stands out in the “Me cuido del cáncer” contest

Fundación Paraguaya carried out the “Me cuido del cáncer” contest in which women from the cities of Mariano Roque Alonso, Encarnación, Villarrica, San Lorenzo, Asunción, Coronel Oviedo, Ybycuí, Curuguaty and Villa Ygatimí took part in. This contest which has been held since 2016, was created to encourage healthy competition and raise awareness among women about the importance of health care and, in the same way, encourage the “verdeo” (turn it green) of the “Personal hygiene and sexual health” indicator of the Stoplight.

At the end of the contest, the prize for the members of the winning committee called “Mujeres Unidas” received the amount of PYG 2,000,000 in a savings account and certificates stating their involvement in the activity. The group gathered a total of 138 trained women within their community.

All the participants showed great interest and gave their best efforts by submitting evidence showing that they received information related to sexual health and personal hygiene. They specifically did research on cervix and breast cancer and, subsequently, carried out awareness campaigns within their group and with external people, such as family members, friends and neighbors. Throughout this process, the entrepreneurs received the support of their advisors, who provided their accompaniment and help in the requirements and content of the training.

A jury made up of Fundación Paraguaya collaborators evaluated the evidence and forms presented according to the scoring criteria table for the selection of the winning group of the competition.

In Paraguay, cancer is the second cause of death and within this total, 60% is represented by cervical and breast cancer. For this reason, Fundación Paraguaya is committed to extending and transmitting the relevance of clinical analysis and early treatment to fight together and well-informed against cancer.
